The Dhansanchay Family Wealth Checklist
Eleven things every Indian family should have in order — before they need them.
Protection
- Term insurance cover adequate for the family's Human Life Value.
- Health insurance for every family member — base policy + super top-up.
- All policy nominations current and aligned with the will.
Investments
- SIPs running and automated — not dependent on monthly manual action.
- Annual step-up scheduled or reviewed every April.
- Emergency fund in place — about six months of expenses in liquid form.
- Portfolio consolidated — fewer folios, fewer overlapping funds.
Documentation
- Will written, signed, witnessed, and location known to your spouse.
- One file (physical or digital) with account numbers, policy details, and contacts — accessible to at least two family members.
- Nominations updated across folios, bank accounts, and policies.
Conversation
- Your spouse can answer: “Where is our money, and what is it for?”
